Ramirez, Narvasa top Justice League Run

CEBU, Philippines - Veteran trail runner Mereeiz Ramirez became a ‘Wonder  Woman’ in her own way after emerging as the fastest in the 5K women’s class of the Justice League Run yesterday at the SM City-Cebu parking lot.

Ramirez finished the race 21 minutes and three seconds, while Noel Narvasa lorded it over the men’s class with 22:08 clocking.

One of the country’s top junior triathletes Aaliyah Matargnon trailed Ramirez in 23:25, while Rona Lacanlale settled for third in 23:57.

Narvasa outpaced John Praganos who placed second with 23:25, while Ricardo Guinto finished third in the men’s side with 23:39.

In the 10K action, Paul Makiling reigned supreme in the men’s class with 44:08 clocking, followed by Ronan Miranda with 47:20 in second as Ric Fuentes landed third  in 57:35.

Shiela Aligway won the women’s class in 53:34 together with her runner-ups Helen Dionson (54:16) and Kay Cundangan (56:34).

Gerson Casinillo (10:54) and Jessel Ochoa (12:09) crossed the finish line first to rule the 3K class.

Arc Abellanosa was second place in the 3K men’s with 12:57 clocking as John Michael Bacus settled for third in 13:01. Completing the top three finishers in the women’s class together with Ochia were Catherine Yu (12:36) and Nicole Del Rosario (12:50).

Close to 2,000 runners participated in the race were they got a chance to run while dressed in colorful costumes of their favorite superhero like Batman, Superman, The Flash, Green Lantern and WonderWoman, for female runners. (FREEMAN)
