Dorma, MegaBond, CMI start strong in A+EBA’s Corporate Cup

CEBU, Philippines – Dorma, MegaBond and CMI (Cabinet Members , Inc.) kicked off their respective campaigns on a rousing note in the Architects+Engineers Basketball Association’s 1st Corporate Cup last Saturday at the University of San Carlos-Main gym.

Ed Macasling sparkled with 24 points as Dorma whipped Davies Paints, 71-61, Nick Abapo churned out 21 points to lift MegaBond to a 71-64 triumph over Fenestram, while Samboi Parcon torched 21 points in CMI’s 61-53 conquest of Phoenix.

Nathaniel Benedicto and Julius Kerwin Orit each scored 15, even as they also connived for 15 assists and 12 rebounds for Dorma, which used a searing 19-8 run in the third period to break the backs of Davies Paints.

Michael Vincent Cinco had 25 points laced with eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals in a losing effort for Davies Paints, which also drew 11 points, six assists and four rebounds from league president Paolo Alberto.

MegaBond, on the other hand, trailed by seven points at halftime, 28-35, but launched a furious offensive in the final half capped by a 25-14 endgame blitz to turn the tables on Fenestram.

Malvin Malicdem added 16 points for MegaBond followed by Gerald Jayme with 15 points and seven assists. Jessie Paradero had 16 points and Bacus nailed 14 markers in a losing effort for Fenestram.

Jun Villacorta, for his part, backed up Parcon with 16 points for CMI, which dominated Phoenix after closing the first half with an eight-point edge, 26-18.

Dinsquared Tiro had a solid double-double show of 17 points and 12 rebounds in a losing effort for Phoenix. — EBV (FREEMAN)
