Naga City to stage Uphill Rush

CEBU, Philippines - The city government of Naga, Cebu will hold the 21K Uphill Rush, a half marathon race, on August 30 from the Baywalk in Poblacion to Barangay Cantao-an, a hilly village.

Organized by running group Team Kombati, part of the event's proceeds will be donated to the local government for the purchase of wheelchairs for persons with disabilities, in line with the celebration of the 8th Charter Day Anniversary of the city on September 5.

Categories for the Uphill run are 21K with gun start at 4:30 a.m., 12K at 5 a.m. and 5K at 5:30 a.m.

Registration fee pegged at P750 for 21K, P550 for 12K and P350 for 5K. All registered participants will get a free singlet, a race bib and breakfast. All finishers will get a free visor.

The first male and female runner for 21K who will reach the turning point uphill (10.5K) will be declared King and Queen of the mountain and each will get a pair of Oakley sunglasses.

All finishers for 21K and 12K will get a medal each. Cash prizes will be given away to the top performers in the 21K. The champion pockets P10,000, while the second and third receive P8,000 and P5,000, respectively.

For 12K, the first placer will go home with P8,000; second, P5,000 and third P3,000. For the 5K category, the first placer will get P3,000; second at P2,000 and the third will get P1,000.
