Cebuano jins make waves in ASEAN tikefest
CEBU, Philippines - The promising Cebuano jins proved they are worthy to be part of the Philippine team after carting away seven golds, five silvers and two bronzes in the ASEAN Taekwondo Federation Championships recently in Saigon, Vietnam.
McAvyngyr Alob was the first to deliver gold in the poomsae team competition along with Patrick Perez and Adrian Ang.
The 17-year-old Alob, a first-timer in the ASEAN battle, also won a silver in the individual event.
Also in poomsae or forms, Aidaine Laxa contribued two silvers and a bronze, while Cheyena de la Fuente got a silver through the team event with Laxa.
Cebu also bagged several honors in the sparring competition, with the golds coming from Nica Garces, Denison Wilrej Cañeda, Zozen Prajes, Sal Luiji Estrada, Wendiljay Rama and Anne Albarracin.
The silver was contributed by Mayn Coran as Royda Jane Ranile came up with a bronze.
After Vietnam, the Cebuanos head to Taiwan for the 2015 Asian Junior Taekwondo Championships on April 8-15. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (FREEMAN)
