Balasabas wins gold in CCSC’s world record for archery
CEBU, Philippines – Ejon Dave Balasabas of Brgy.Bacayan posted the biggest win as he garnered 218 points to grab the gold medal in the boy’s division of Cebu City’s historic bid for the Guinness World Record’s largest archery tournament at the Cebu City Sports Center yesterday.
Balasabas had a 16-point advantage over Lahug’s Christian Dave Carmen as Marc CJ Gonzaga landed third with 192 points.
The Cebu City Sports Commission along with Cebu Archery Club produced 13,102 participants to break the current record of United States with 9,426 archers.
In the distaff side, Jiralyn Slon of Kang-atis nabbed the gold with her 151 points. Shen Ahrose Aleonar of Pardo and Inayawan’s Johnvery Aurelio dominated the Grade 5-6 class with 205 and 182 points, respectively.
Jennylyn Cabiso of Gothong National High school reigned supreme in the high school department with 151 points, as Warren Obaob lorded it over at the boy’s class with 192 points.
Brgy.Lahug and Brgy.Bacayan also won the boy’s and girl’s division of the Grade 3-4 team event as Brgy. Punta Princesa and Pardo claimed the Grade 5-6 class. Brgy. Barrio Luz and Guadalupe ruled the 9-10 class. (FREEMAN)
