Donayre suffers second ONE FC defeat

CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano mixed martial arts fighter Vaughn ‘The Spawn’ Donayre suffered another heartbreaking defeat in his second fight in ONE Fighting Championship, this time in the hands of Malaysian MMA star Peter Davis via first round technical knockout Friday night at the Putra Indoor Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The two fighters immediately exchanged punches and kicks in the first round, but Davis got the upper hand after the fight went to the ground.

Davis caught Donayre with a guillotine choke, but the Cebuano warrior survived the submission but to no avail as he stayed underneath the Malaysian who rained punches from full mount position forcing referee Olivier Coste to halt the carnage in the 4:50 mark of the opening round.

This is Donayre’s second defeat in ONE FC after his submission loss against Mohammed Walid last August 29 in Dubai.

The 35-year-old Donayre suffered his third career loss in 10 fights, while Davis improved to 9-3 win-loss record. – (FREEMAN)
