Top billiards players face off for Yolanda survivors on GMA
CEBU, Philippines - An action-packed Sports Sunday awaits viewers on September 28 as GMA airs World Professional Billiards League’s (WPBL) All-Star Charity Bonus Ball Match for the benefit of the victims of typhoon Yolanda.
WPBL organized the charity match, which was held last February 14 in Las Vegas, Nevada, to raise funds and provide assistance to those heavily affected by typhoon Yolanda, a catastrophe that left families in utter devastation.
Facing off in the tournament are some of the Philippines’ best billiards players against an All-Star Team: 2011 WPA World Eight-Ball Champion Dennis “Robocop” Orcullo, 2013 Hard Times 10-Ball Champion in Los Angeles Carlo “The Black Tiger” Biado, and 2007 US Bar Table Nine Ball Division Champion Warren “The Warrior” Kiamco consist the roster of Team Phl, while WPBL All-Star players feature 2012 WPA World Nine-Ball Champion Darren “Dynamite” Appleton (England), 2013 WPC World Nine-Ball Champion Thorsten “The Hitman” Hohmann (Germany), and the up and coming pool wonder from Canada John Morra.
The teams are competing in a Bonus Ball game format, the objective of which is to score 30 points within a 15-minute game clock. Launched in Las Vegas last February 2013, WPBL has since been making waves as most top billiards pros from around the world participate in the Bonus Ball tournament.
Do not miss the billiards challenge for a cause this Sunday, 3:30 p.m after Sunday All-Stars airing in all nine GMA Regional stations in Ilocos, Bicol, Dagupan, Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod, Davao, GenSan and Cagayan de Oro. (PR) (FREEMAN)
