Boyose Singwangcha clinches ABF super featherweight title

CEBU, Philippines- In another splendid display of brute strength and power, Cebu's pride Ardie Boyose Singwangcha knocked down Richard Betos of Butuan City twice in the opening session, then finished off his hapless foe in the second round to stay undefeated and at the same time wrest the Asian Boxing Federation super featherweight title last Saturday night at the Tabunok Sports Complex in Talisay City.

After going down on the canvas two times within the first three minutes of action, Betos fought on, but not for long as Boyose Singwangcha, who hails from San Remigio north of Cebu, sneaked in another bone-crushing left hook that sent the visiting Mindanao fighter flat on the mat for good at the 1:46 mark of round two.

Boyose Singwangcha, fighting out of the Noy Pacing Flores Boxing Gym, stretched his unbeaten streak to 12-0 now dotted with 8KOs. It was also his seventh straight victory within two rounds, an ominous warning to whoever his next foe would be.

Aside from Ardie Boyose, two other wards of Thai boxing patron Naris Singwangcha, who bankrolled the slambang show in partnership with Cebuano topnotch promoter Rex "Wakee" Salud, the Talisay City Sports Commission and GMA-7, also came out smoking the victory pipe.

Neil John Tabanao Singwangcha of Panabo City, Davao prevailed over Jhon Gemino of Lipa City, Batangas by a lopsided unanimous decision with the scores of 98-92, 98-92, and 99-91, while the General Santos City-native Joey Canoy Singwangcha eased through JR Salvador of Mandaue City's Phil-Aust Gym also by unanimous verdict (78-73, 79-72, 79-72).

In the other bouts, Kenny Demecillo of Iligan City beat Rogen Flores of Dipolog City via TKO at the start of the sixth round, Elias Joaquino stopped Gary Rojo at 1:39 of round three, while Fritz Cabilla decisioned Honorato Boc over four rounds. (FREEMAN)
