Peñalosa brothers knockout foes
CEBU, Philippines - Unbeaten featherweight prospect Dodie Boy ‘Dugong Kampeon’ Peñalosa, Jr. pulled off a resounding third round knockout win against Indonesian Dicky Amtiran the other night at the Mandaluyong Gym.
Peñalosa, son of former two-division world champion Dodie Sr. and nephew of boxing icon turned promoter Gerry Peñalosa, did not show any signs of rust coming off a six-month layoff in dismantling the hapless Indon at 1:14 of round three.
Peñalosa, thus, improved his record to 13-0 dotted with 12 KOs.
In the supporting bout, Dodie Boy’s younger brother Dave ‘Hunter’ Peñalosa (8-0, 5KOs) survived a first-round knockdown to beat Danilo Gabisay (5-4, 2KOs) via fifth round TKO. Dave landed a perfectly set-up left hook to the liver that sent Gabisay reeling on the canvass at 1:23 of round five. (FREEMAN)
