Shark, Wolves devour foes in CSCC E-League

CEBU, Philippines - The Accenture Sharks and Convergys 1 Wolves easily dismantled their respective foes in the 10th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym. Accenture spared no mercy in thrashing the listless 24/7 Cagers by 57 points, 106-49, in the same way with Convergys 1's 45-point blowout of the hapless Job Target Bandits, 68-23.

So explosive Accenture was that six of its players who hit the scoring chart cashed in double figures led by Ryan Edward Llanos with a season-high 31 points, laced with six assists, three rebounds and two steals.

Archie Brian Vincent Batua tossed in 22 points, 11 rebounds six steals and two assists  while Karlo Kaye Pacaña chipped in 16 markers, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals as Accenture joined defending champion Aegis Vipers on top of Division 1 leaderboard with identical 4-1 win-loss records.

Julian Kyle Suerte added 13 points, dished out five assists and as many steals, while Bradley Natavio and Saeed Quintao conspired for 20 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, five blocks and four steals for the Sharks, who kept 24/7 at bay after closing the first half with a 41-28 lead. They further rattled the Cagers with a 31-5 bomb in the third period, then closed the match with a 34-16 spurt for the merciless rout that sent 24/7 to its fifth straight loss in as many starts.

On the other hand, Mark Alvarez and Rex Benjie Saje combined for 32 points, 16 rebounds, six steals, four assists and four blocks as Convergys 1 moved to second place in Division 1 in a tie with the Lexmark Stallions at 3-1. They were never threatened after getting off to a 17-8 start. They held off Job Target to only nine points in the middle quarters, then ended their assault via a 23-6 blast that left the Bandits wobbling at the final buzzer.

In the other games, the Wipro Tigers rode on a strong opening statement to spank the Teletech Titans, 61-46 while the SSI Warriors was in full comand of the match from the start on the to hammer out a masterful 75-55 win over the Sykes Pioneers.

Reinario Salibay  Jr. led a balanced offensive with 10 points as Wipro notched its fifth victory against only one defeat. Jaygard Vios had 13 points and Ian Rey Compasivo added 10, but could not prevent Teletech from absorbing its third setback against a solitary win.

Lawrence Daven Agas posted 15 points, four assists, two rebounds and two steals while Kevin Sindayen chipped in 12 points and three rebounds for SSI, which now holds an improved 3-2 win-loss mark.

Gerald Bien Galarido put up an all-around show with 17 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals but his efforts went in vain as Sykes suffered its third loss in four games.— EBV (FREEMAN)
