FIFA WC players all pass doping test

FEEL THE GAME - Bobby Motus - The Freeman

The 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil introduced biological profiling for players by taking their blood and urine samples.  92% of those tested on the official WC list, about 800 players, were tested and found negative of illegal drugs in accordance with FIFA Anti-Doping Regulations.  Remaining players will be tested any time at the duration of the tournament.

The World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) welcomed FIFA’s initiative as this is the first time in major sport competition history that participating athletes were tested systematically prior to competition.

In addition, two players from each team will have their blood and urine samples taken randomly before game time as part of FIFA’s routine in competition doping controls.

Test results will be compared to other analysis done during the EURO 2012, the UEFA Champions League Finals of 2013 and 2014, the FIFA Club World Cups of 201, 2012 and 2013 and the FIFA Confederations Cup of 2013.  Deviations on individual results may indicate abuse on performance enhancing drugs (PEDs).
