7th Amo Cup tees off at Alta Vista
CEBU, Philippines - The 7th edition of the Albino D. Gothong Memorial Golf Tournament, also known as the Amo Cup, will tee off Saturday at the par-72 Alta Vista Golf and Country Club in Pardo, Cebu City.
This event is held in memory of Gothong, who was fondly called Amo by his close friends and business associates. He was a former member of the board of Alta Vista and was also responsible for big golf events in Cebu during the 1990s until early 2000.
The two-day, 18-hole event will follow the strokeplay format.
There will be prizes for the overall lowest gross and lowest net. Aside from that, there will be prizes for the lowest gross for the three handicap categories for members as well as the lowest net and the runner-up.
The lowest gross and the top two for the net of the seniors’ division (55 to 69 years old) will also receive prizes as well as the lowest gross and lowest net winners for the super seniors (70 years old and above), ladies, and guest categories.
There will also be special prizes for nearest to the pin on hole No. 6 and most accurate drive on hole No. 11.
At stake for a hole-in-one will be a Hyundai Elantra on hole No. 8. Other prizes for an ace are a Club Car golf cart also on No. 8 and a Sunriser Wonderbike from Norkis Trading and a Skygo motorcycle on all par-3 holes.
Santa Lucia Realty is giving away a residential lot for an ace on hole No. 15 and Marist Royal Holidays Travel and Tours will give away a trip ticket also on the 15th.
The event is backed by diamond sponsors AD Gothong Manufacturing Corp., Gothong Southern, Security Bank, University of Cebu, and Ideal Builders Development.
Taft Properties is also supporting the tournament along with Phil Span Asia Carrier Corp. and PLDT Alpha Enterprise.
Entry fee has been pegged at P2,000 for club members and P 3,000 for guests. For a guest to participate in the tournament, he must be endorsed by a club member.
Other backers of the event are Alpa City Suites, Ayala Land Premier, China Bank, Prudential Life Guarantee, Prulife UK, RCBC J Centre Mall Wealth Management, and 6R Mercantile.
