Top guns start hot in CYBL caging

The age group powerhouses of basketball started off on a high note on opening day of the CYBL VisMin Goodwill Games sponsored by Alaska at the Lux Oriens Gym of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu.  The University of San Carlos University of the Visayas and SHS-AdC all scored two wins each to set the pace for the rest of the field.

In the Under 12 division, defending champion USC Green beat Ormoc, 60-20, and Cebu Eastern College  57-47, in Group A play. In other Group A games, CEC trounced Don Bosco Technology Center, 58-39, while Ateneo de Iloilo toppled Ormoc, 70-25.

 In Group B play, UV pulled off the same feat, nipping SHS-AdC, 44-43, and USC Gold, 47-39. In the other Group B games of the Under 12 division, SHS-AdC won over brother school Xavier University of Cagayan de Oro, 47-41. But XU recovered by beating USC Gold, 59-34.

In the Under 15 division, USC defeated CEC, 62-52, and USPF 1, 55-34, for a 2-0 record. Ateneo de Iloilo won over Ormoc, 70-25 on Group A play. Guest team RU Shredder of Bacolod also scored two wins: 63-38 over Ormoc, and a 53-34 win over Bohol.

In Group B games of the Under 15 division, SHS-AdC cruised past One on One, 86-41 and won over DBTC 1 by default. UV defeated DBTC, 53-28, and One on One, 65-46. USPF 2 defeated BAI Training Camp/Tagbilaran, 53-42. Ateneo de Iloilo sailed past BAI Training Camp/Tagbilaran, 74-36.

The SHS-Ateneo de Cebu/CYBL VisMIn Goodwill Games is an annual gathering of VisMIn teams in an atmosphere of fellowship and fun. It is sponsored by Alaska.
