Parklane Hotel launches three sporting events

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Parklane International Hotel holds three sporting events as they continue to fulfill their commitment in helping Cebu in promoting tourism.

Parklane will start with the Tri Bantayan on May 3 that will happen in the municipality of Bantayan Island.

The other sporting events that Parklane will be organizing include the Hunat Sugbu 4 on June 22 at Parkmall grounds in Mandaue City and the second edition of the Hunat Sugbu Triathlon in Argao on September 21.

The Tri Bantayan is a fund-raising activity for the victims of typhoon Yolanda in Bantayan Island. This is the first time that Bantayan will hosts a triathlon.

"We are giving a nod to the LGU of Bantayan to have this event to show that tourism is not dead in Bantayan," said Parklane general-manager Cenelyn Manguilimotan in a press conference yesterday.

The triathlon in Bantayan is comprised of 1K swim, 30K bike and 7K run. A relay competition is also included with two classes-all-male and mixed categories.

The Hunat Sugbu 4, on the other hand, is an annual running event in memory of the hotel’s founding president Manuel "Maning" Ting.

The race will feature 12K and 21K half-marathon categories.

The third event that is the Hunat Sugbu Triathlon in Argao on September is a part of Parklane’s effort to promote different places in Cebu through sports tourism. (FREEMAN)
