Cabibil shines in CEPCA monthly tourney

CEBU, Philippines -  Tony Cabibil completed a five-game sweep to rule the March edition of the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (CEPCA) Monthly Tourmnament last Sunday at Handura Pizza along Gorordo Avenue, this city.

Cabilbil, a former collegiate standout when he was still a varsity at Southwestern University, opened his bid with a rousing win over CEPCA President Jerry Maratas. He then subdued Tony Barade, Romy Pialan and Rey Flores before taming Rosendo Yamyamin in the final round.

The former two-time Cebu blitz champion, thus, advanced into the grand finals scheduled this December with no confirmed venue. – EBV (FREEMAN)
