Jaguars devour Webmasters in Mandaue Mayor’s Cup

CEBU, Philippines - Rookie Iron Suano sprayed 10 straight points in the fourth period as he propels the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars to a 66-58 win over the University of  Cebu (UC) Webmasters  the other night  in the 1st Mandaue Mayor's Cup Inter-Collegiate and Inter-Barangay basketball tournament at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex.

Earlier, the Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras stunned the visiting UAAP team, National University (NU) Bulldogs, 68-66.

Suano sizzled early in the fourth to break a 50-all tie after the third canto.

The Webmasters tried to counter, but the Jaguars also controlled the defensive end limiting them from only eight points in the final period.

Import Quentin Luzoladio inked 10 points before leaving the game in the final three minutes after suffering an ankle injury.

Webmasters erased a 10-point lead by the Jaguars in the first, 16-26, before posting a one point advantage, 49-48, at halftime.

Kenneth Niones top scored with 21 points, as Arvin Gomez and Jan Auditor chipped in 13 and 11 points, respectively for the Webmasters.
