UV sweeps Talisay beach volley
CEBU, Philippines - The University of the Visayas (UV) dominated the 2014 Talisay City Beach Volleyball Invitational Competition, grabbing two titles in their respective divisions yesterday at the landing site in Brgy.Poblacion, Talisay City.
UV sponsored team of Jusabelle Brillo and Apple Saraum snared the womens title beating the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) of Rochelle Rica and Gelly Murpos.
The tandem of Brillo and Apple Saraum proved to be too much for the USPF bets winning two straight sets, 21-16, 21-14.
University of San Jose Recoletos (USJR) placed third in the women’s class after a thrilling three sets win against the Southwestern University (SWU), 15-21, 21-17, 15-10.
In the mens division, the UV duo of Jade Becaldo and Loujie Tigpos beat SWU of Relan Taneo and Rommel Pepito.
Like their female counterpart, Becaldo and Tigpos also dominated their opponent win straight two sets, 21-18, 21-15.
USPF’s Edmar Bonono and John Tormis claimed the third place in the mens class with a 3-0 win against USJR.
The tournament is one of the highlights of the Takas sa Talisay, Kagawasan Sugbo Celebration. (FREEMAN)
