Clear Dream Match regional tryout in Cebu

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -  The first step to playing alongside or against Manchester United legends Paul Scholes and Andy Cole takes place here in Cebu with the staging of the first regional try-out of the Clear Dream Match 3 on March 21 at the Aboitiz Sports Field in north reclamation area.

Scholes and Cole will play with either Team Phil or Team James in the final installment of the All-Star trilogy  scheduled June 7 in Manila.

"Clear Dream Match 3 will be the most competitive game yet as only the best football players in the Philippines will get to participate," said Clear brand manager Drew Copuyoc in a presscon yesterday at Patio Isabel. He was joined by Azkals and UFL players Nate Burke and Carli de Murga.

The other regional tryouts are set in Iloilo on March 23, Davao on March 29 and Metro Manila on March 30.

Each tryout, which will be handled by five UFL coaches, will be limited to a hundred players aged 17 years old and above.

Since slots are limited, the Cebu Football Association (CFA) has been tapped to help in the selection process.

The top eight players will go on a three-day camp to be supervised by Manchester United coaches on April 25 to 27.

From the 32 players in the camp, six will be selected for the drafting on either Phil or James Younghusband's team.

Other players part of the Dream Match are top booters from UFL.

Fans can be part of the selection process by voting for their favorite UFL players through www.cleardreammatch.com.ph.

Interested players can also log on in the said website for registration or at the CFA office for Cebu-based aspirants.  (FREEMAN)
