CIS swimmers shine in age-group meet
CEBU, Philippines - Host Cebu International School (CIS) showed they just don't have the numbers, but also highly potential swimmers in winning the overall championship of the 1st Cebu International School Age-Group Invitational Swim Meet the other day.
The CIS swimmers of coach Loveleneill Casidsid, a champion triathlete, collected a total of 682 points to rule the one-day tilt. Narwhal Swimming Club finished second with 537 points, while Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu came out third with 428 points.
Rounding up the top six were Bright Academy with 133 points, the Pool Pirates with 32 and Team A2Z with 25 points.
Leading the cast of the triumphant CIS side were Thalia Leonard and Cassandra Marie Marquis with four golds each and Kevin De Keijzer with three gilts. Nick Kwon, Sandra Abderhalden and Michelle Coyle bagged two golds each, while Hector Feliu, Phil June Choi, Bjorn Crossman, Kristen Pickett and Phoebe Bell snared one gold each.
CIS also seized six golds in the relay event spiced up with one silver and three bronzes.
The other medal contributors for CIS were Nina Jordan with two silvers, Kazanosuko Sano with a silver and a bronze, Lena Berge, Julian Forst and Aya Nagano with one silver each, Phoebe Leonard with three bronzes, Kim Sunghoon with two bronzes, and Ella Stevens, Hiromi Miyazaki and Jihyun Lee with one apiece.
The Marlon Galo-mentored Narwhal, on the other hand,had Alexander Galo and Randolf Cabaron taking away three golds, Marben Abique and Honey Ambalong added four golds combined, while Quinten Sabalande, Navane Amorin and Lordave Velos had one each.
SHS-Ateneo de Cebu placed only third but had the most bemedalled swimmer in Patrick Chu with five golds. Ivo Remedio minted four golds for the Ateneans, Angeline Pardis claimed three golds, while Julia Versoza got two golds.
The lean, but mean Bright Academy also had a share of the limelight, with Isabelle Diehl raking in three golds. Maxine Sardido and Nina Diehl contributed one gold each.
Joebert Indaya, the lone entry from the Cebu Blue Marlins, grabbed two silvers and a bronze, while Marvin Villamor snared one gold and two bronzes for A2Z. — (FREEMAN)
