Younger Servania topbills Sinulog boxing anew

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - For the second straight year, fast-rising Bacolod City fighter Roland "Momoy" Servania will headline ALA Boxing and Fitness Gym's "Sinulog Boxing at the Mall" slated on January 19 at the Gaisano Countrymall carpark in Brgy. Banilad, this city.

Servania will slug it out with Dingdong Quiñones of General Santos City in a non-title duel of bantamweight upstarts scheduled for six rounds.

Servania is the younger brother of Genesis "Azukal" Servania, the undefeated ALA Stable star who currently reigns as the WBO Intercontinental super bantamweight champion.

Roland Servania also topbilled ALA's annual Sinulog offering last year, interestingly in his pro debut. He readily made an impression before the Cebuano fight fans with his masterful four-round beating of Joyjoy Formentera.

He followed it up with four more victories, including against Andrew Palas on the undercard of the highly-successful Pinoy Pride show on April 25, 2013 at the Waterfront-Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

Aside from the Servania-Quiñones duel, three other pro bouts will be featured in the slambang event that will surely treat the Fiesta Señor revelers to one night of fistic entertainment.

Reymi Castellano Aleye of Cuba will mix it up with Rodel Wenceslao of Mandaue City in a six-rounder super featherweight clash, Jonas Sultan of Zamboanga del Norte will take on Marlon Macayan of Antique in another six-rounder collision of super flyweights, while Jess Rhey Waminal of Bukidnon will face off with Jerome Baja of Mandaue in a four-round battle under the junior bantamweight division.

Eight exciting amateur matches have been lined up as aperitif to the pro card that is free to the public.— EBV (FREEMAN)
