CEBU, Philippines - The finals cast of the CYBL D-League 2013 was set over the weekend with rookie team Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion-Mandaue (CIC-M), University of San Carlos South-B, Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu-C and the University of the Visayas-B grabbing championship berths in their respective divisions at the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) campus.

In the Under 12 division, CIC-M used a hot start to outlast DBTC-B, 39-32. CIC-M streaked to a 21-5 halftime lead after limiting the hosts to only two points in the second quarter. The lead stretched to 34-16 at the end of the third quarter before DBTC staged a furious rally in the payoff period, limiting CIC-M to only five fourth quarter points while pouring 16 of  their own.

The other final slot was taken by USC South-B, whose game against SHS-AdC was turned into a friendly game due to the lack of players of the latter.

It was a case of big wins in the Under 15 category as UV-B torched Blessed John Seminary 1, 61-25, while SHS-AdC-C surprised USC South-B 53-31.

The final tickets of the Under 10 division was determined earlier with USC North and SHS-AdC arranging a title showdown.

The CYBL D-League is the second tier league or Division B of the Cebu Youth Basketball League. Some 34 teams saw action and it is held in cooperation with venue partners Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, University of San Carlos, Don Bosco Technology Center, USJ-R, CIC-Mandaue and Virgen de las Pias Escuelas School. Games were moved to the Canduman campus of  SHS-AdC since the school’s Mango campus gym is being used for relief operations. (FREEMAN)
