‘Prince’ Pagara keeps unbeaten record
CEBU, Philippines - Rising featherweight star ‘Prince’ Albert Pagara of the ALA Boxing Gym kept his unbeaten record intact with a lopsided unanimous decision victory against Gadwin Tubigon of Dipolog City in the main event of ALA Promotions and Cobra Energy Drink ‘Tunay na Lakas Boxing’ the other night at the Freedom Park in Dumaguete City.
The former amateur standout did not fulfill his promise of a knockout, but he still make an impression before the Negrense fight fans with his clinical beating Tubigon all through the 10-round battle.
Pagara rocked Tubigon several times with an assortment of punches, but the Mindanao fighter showed nerves of steels in withstanding Pagara's onslaught until the final bell.
After the one-sided bout, the three judges scored 97-94, 99-92 and 98-92, all in favor for Pagara, who improved his clean record 17-0 spiked with 12KOs. Tubigon fell to 11-7.
In the undercard, ALA prospect Juren ‘Turbo’ Labordo (11-1, 7KOs) suffered a shocking seventh round knockout loss to the little known Jaymart Troyco (14-4, 10KOs) of Parañaque City.
In the other results, Roma Rate beat Reymund Tabogon by unanimous decision, Boyce Sultan won over Roy-Roy Sumugat by split decision, Crispin Parba triumphed over Marvin Catipay by second round KO, Kim Galon stopped Belmar Plaza, Raul Yu dispatched Andrew Palas, Geo Santisima kayoed Jamjam Ungon, and Jay Solomon needed only one round to destroy Eddie Liparanon.–(FREEMAN)
