San Roque XI, Avengers drub foes in Aboitiz Cup

CEBU, Philippines - San Roque Rehab opened its title campaign with a 5-1 thrashing of Magone in the premiere men's open division of the 16th Aboitiz Football Cup yesterday at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

 

San Roque Rehab, thus, earned a share of the early lead in group A with the Avengers, who silenced the Cebu Amateur Football Club (CAFC), 1-0.

In the under-23 division, the University of the Visayas won by default over the no-show Continental AFS, while the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) pulled off a 3-0 whitewash of the University of San Carlos.

In the 38-above category, JEH United crushed Hipodromo FC, 6-0, for the most lopsided win of the day, while Hiroshi and KN Ferraren fought to a 1-all draw.

In the inter-company action, Leylam, ERCO and T-United all got off to flying starts. Leylam scraped through a 2-1 win over San Miguel, 2-1, while ERCO upended the Arkiteks, 2-0.

In the ladies side of the inter-BPO battle, USC barreled its way to a 5-0 demolition of Accenture, while Lexmark outsmarted NCR,1-0.

In the men's bracket, Lexmark settled for a  2-all draw with Stream in bracket B, while Convergys and NCR battled it out to a scoreless draw.

In bracket A, Accenture came through with a 1-0 triumph over Innodata, while Eperformax dished out an impressive 3-0 win. (FREEMAN)
