Batua sweeps MVP-ROY honors in CCSC E-League
CEBU, Philippines - Archie Brian Batua of the Accenture Sharks shone the brightest among the top individual achievers of the 9th CSCC E-League for Basketball as he swept the Southern Conference MVP and Rookie of the Year awards.
Batua became the only second player in the league's nine-year history to claim the two distinct honors after Sylvester Millevo of Stream Ingenyouity, who was named MVP in the Northern Conference.
Batua and Millevo automatically made it to the elite Mythical Five together with Batua's teammate Ryan Edward Llanos, Franco Angelo Cipriano of the Lexmark Stallions, and Ryan Veloso of the Aegis Vipers.
Batua also topped the rebounding department with an average of 9.6 caroms per game.
Man mountain Robert Gilo of the ePerformax Reds emerged as the "Tapal King" with a norm of 2.67 blocks per game, Giovanni Villahermosa of Lexmark is the leader in assists with 4.4 apg, while Chris Judilla of the Calltek Trojans lorded it over in steals with 2.9 spg.
Clifford Amarado of the Telstra-Teletech Titans, on the other hand, is this season's scoring champion, churning out 23.57 points per game.
The top individual awardees will formally be feted for their stirring exploits before Game 2 of the CSCC E-League Finals.
Meanwhile, Lexmark shoots for a 2-0 sweep against Accenture in their best-of-three duel for the Southern Conference title this weekend. The winner of the series will face Northern champion Aegis for the overall season championship. (FREEMAN)
