CEPCA monthly tourney resumes tomorrow at Handuraw

CEBU, Philippines - The October edition of the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (CEPCA) monthly tournament will take place this Sunday at Handuraw Pizza along Gorordo Avenue, this city. The 5-round Swiss system tilt promptly starts at 1 pm.

CEPCA sports committee chairman Jun Olis said the competition is getting tougher since there are only two slots left for the 'Magic 12' that will slug it out in the grand finals scheduled this December with no confirmed venue.

The top winner in this Sunday's event will join early qualifiers Jong Melendez, NM Arnold Cadiz, Percival Fiel, Maggi Dionson, Manuel Abucay,  Jun Kidlat, Peterson Sia, Rey Flores, Freddie Casagan and Harrison Chua in next month's finale.

CEPCA president Jojo Moralla is expected to grace the affair together with the club's founder Boy Pestaño and incoming prexy Engr. Jerry Maratas of Jemar Engineering Services. (FREEMAN)
