Young blood leads new CEPCA officers
CEBU, Philippines - New member Jerry Maratas was elected president of the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (CEPCA) for 2014-15 during the club's annual election held recently at Handuraw Pizza along Gorordo Avenue, this city.
Maratas, 34, is one of the youngest ever elected presidents in the club's 23 years of existence.
A civil and structural engineer, Marata owns Jemar Engineering Services that specializes in civil and structural design of medium and high-rise buildings. He is also a faculty member under the Engineering Department of the University of San Carlos (USC).
The rest of the CEPCA officers are Marvyne Guardiana (vice president for external affairs), Dante Arguelles (VP-Internal), Jun Olis (secretary), Jun Kidlat (treasurer), and Ruel Hortelano (auditor), with Mandy Baria and Jojo Muralla acting a board members. (FREEMAN)
