Gasca in a crucial fight against Indonesian foe

CEBU, Philippines - ALA Boxing Gym fighter Roli ‘Zuma’ Gasca (20-4, 5KOs) hopes to rebuild his path to become a world champion as he battles Indonesian warrior Lande Olin (11-4, 7KOs) in the undercard of ‘Pinoy Pride XXII:The Revenge’ on October 26 at the Pacific grand ballroom of Waterfront-Cebu City Hotel and Casino in Brgy. Lahug, this city.

The blockbuster card co-presented by ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports is headlined by the WBO Asia-Pacific super bantamweight showdown between ALA rising star Genesis ‘Azukal’ Servania and Rafael ‘El Torito’ Concepcion of Panama.

The 24-year-old Gasca captured the Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) super bantamweight title via majority decision against Japanese Hiromasha Ohashi on August 7, 2011 in Aichi Japan.

Unfortunately, Gasca’s reign as OPBF champion ended in his very first defense, losing by unanimous decision against Japanese challenger Yukinori Oguni on November 3 the same year in Hyogo, Japan.

The Barili-native even had a chance to become a world champion as he fought for the IBO title, but he also suffered another heart-breaking loss against Russia’s Alexander Bakhtin last year in Moscow, Russia.

“Gasca is a fighter who shows a lot of talent and a high I.Q inside the ring. We still believe that he has the potential to be a world title challenger in the future,” said ALA Promotions President and CEO Michael Aldeguer.

“This will be crucial for him to see if he still has what it takes to continue what he once started.”

On the other hand, Gasca’s stablemate and ‘IDOL’ hopefuls Mark Vincent 'Machete' Bernaldez and Jessel Mark 'Magnifico' Magsayo are also going to show their punching wares on a bigger stage.

Bernaldez (11-0, 7KOs) will trade punches against Thai Khunkhiri Wor Wisaruth (10-5, 5KOs), while Magsayo (3-0, 2KOs) will mix it up with Hagibis Quiñones. –(FREEMAN)
