Team Leylam bags three titles in San Roque Football

CEBU, Philippines - Team Leylam leads the cast of winners in the 9th San Roque Football Festival with three titles including the premiere men's open division at San Roque Parish's football field in Subangdaku, Mandaue.

Leylam bagged the men's open title via shootout, 5-4 against one of the early favorites, San Roque Rehab squad.

Both squads put-up a strong defensive stuff that sent the former national team player and former Little Azkals head coach Oliver Colina, led Leylam squad and San Roque Rehab to a shootout in favor of Leylam.

Leylam's boys'17 squad also came out victorious against Blessed John Seminary also via shootout.

The third title by Leylam came from its inter-company squad after silencing San Miguel with a 2-0 triumph.

On the other hand, Don Bosco Technology Center also went away with three titles—the ladies open, players 8 and 6.

The DB Girls outsmarted the University of San Carlos-B to win the ladies open crown while its players' 6 dumped Consolacion as DB-4 outsmarted its sister team, DB-1 to win the players' 8 title.

DBTC missed its fourth title with USC winning the players'10 title while Dynamo FC won the boys'12 over Giuseppe and ERCO went away with the men's 21 title at the expense of Hiroshi.

Host San Roque Football Club had a double 1-2 finish after its team A defeated team B in the girls'14 and 17 finals.

SRFC's girls'14 were powered by national team members Arantxa Trebol, Choco Bacatan and Alexa Ceniza that left its team B helpless.

Over 2 thousand players spread in 186 teams joined the two-day action played over the weekend. — (FREEMAN)
