CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano hoop fans will be treated to an action-packed weekend featuring the powerhouse squads Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras and the University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers against separate foes in the 13th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) men's basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.

Today, Southwestern U guns for its fifth straight win in as many starts when it clashes with the hard-fighting University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars at 6:15pm.

In tomorrow's order of play, the UV Green Lancers will take centertage in another explosive hardcourt action against the streaking University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors.

With an arsenal of weapons at their disposal, legendary coach Raul "Yayoy" D. Alcoseba and the defending champion Cobras are heavily favored against the Jaguars.

The Cobras without doubt have all the elements to obliterate the Jaguars owing to their superior and star-studded roster bannered their Cameroonian reinforcements in Fabrice Siewe and Landry Sanjou. They also have a bunch of reliable local gunners in Mark Jayven Tallo, Monbert Arong, Adams Mohammed, Bernie Bregondo, and Darly Goloran.

The presence of Francis Ortega, Jabe Bautista, Melvin Holper, Nelton Otida and Mark Panerio also adds depth to SWU's offensive armaments.

The all-local Jaguars, for their part, are exhausting all means to be at par with their rivals. They have the Parker brothers Matthew and Christian and Miguel Tabaloc to compliment their star players in James Regalado and Rendell Thomas Senining.

The SWU-USJR duel topbills a heavy quadruple-header spiced up by an exciting showdown between reigning juniors division titlist Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles and 2011 champion Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons at 4:30 pm.

The Magis Eagles are seeking to extend their unbeaten streak to seven games in a row, while the Dragons hope to improve their record that currently stands at 4-1. (FREEMAN)
