Tabal, Prince Lee rule MAPFRE Run
CEBU, Philippines - Mary Joy Tabal successfully defended her title, while Prince Joey Lee finally made his mark in the men's open category of MAPFRE Insular's 2nd Run For Road Safety yesterday at the Cebu Business Park.
Tabal reigned supreme in the women's 12K race for the second straight year with an improved time of 44 minutes and 26.69 seconds.
Mereeis Ramirez was a distant second with a 52:11.83 clocking, while last year's first runner-up Christy Sevilleno-Tutor slipped to third with the time of 55:01.40.
In the men's 12K action, Prince Joey Lee outsmarted a bunch of seasoned runners to win the top spot. He crossed the finish line with the fastest time of 41 minutes and 26.69 seconds. Reiz Enriquez settled for second in 42:07.01, while Jobert Carolino ended his bid at third in 43:10.21.
Ronny Andrin placed only fourth, but still went home happy after seeing his sisters ruling in their respective divisions.
Lovely Fe and Jhean Andrin had a 1-2 finish in the women's 6K with the time of 27:04.02 and 27:21.20, respectively, while Cherry Andrin claimed the women's 3K crown in 13:18.80.
Little-known John Daryl Manos grabbed the men's 6K title in 20:40.76 followed by Rafael Pescos (21:07.73) and Michael Largo (21:58.54).
Bonifacio Monjas Jr. topped the men's 3K in 10:42.18. John Cliff Debolosan got the second spot in 11:05.36 as Jess Gonzaga came out third in 11:33.01. (FREEMAN)
