Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano triathlon star Rochelle Tan is back in the groove after leading the Cebuanos' charge with a runner-up finish in Filipino women's elite division of the Century Tuna 5150 Philippines the other day at Subic Bay Freeport.

Tan completed the 1.5-kilometer swim, 40K bike and 10K run in two hours, 52 minutes and 56 seconds, good for a silver medal.

Tan's day went more memorable as Oliver Townshend, her boyfriend, came out fourth in the men's 15-19 age group in his first try on a World Triathlon Corporation-branded event. He clocked in 3:07:26.

On the other hand, Philip Duenas caught everyone by surprise after he placed sixth overall in the Filipino men's elite and 13th overall behind pro winner Luke McKenzie. Duenas touched down the finish line with the time of 2:17:01.

Ironman challenger Noy Jopson could only land at the 9th spot in the said class with a 2:54:59 clocking.

Joseph Miller dominated the men's 30-34 division with 2:26:21 clocking.

The father-and-daughter tandem of Gianluca and Giorgia Guidicelli also made their presence felt. Gianluca wound up fifth in the men's 50-54 class in 3:03:18, while Giorgia timed 3:18:34 to settle for second in the women's 20-24 class. (FREEMAN)
