ePerformax dumps Executive Boutique by 61 pts. in E-League
CEBU, Philippines - The ePerformax Reds recorded what is by the most lopsided victory in the nine-year history of the CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament courtesy of its 61-point massacre of the hapless Executive Boutique Lycans, 98-37, last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
The outcome of the one-sided match was already a foregone conclusion when ePerformax mounted an imposing 21-point bulge at halftime, 49-28. ePerformax prolonged Executive Boutique's agony using a devastating 30-6 run in the third period. The rest, they say, is history.
Underscoring their offensive wealth, all players except for Jake Cedeño scored for ePerformax including five in double figures. Rafael Jose Cuico had 18 points and three steals, Romel John Ferrero Lawas added 17 points on top of three assists and three steals, while Raymond Dennis Tan netted 16 markers, three steals and two assists.
Nolan de la Peña and Robert Gilo each scored 12, even as they combined for six steals, five blocks and four assists for ePerformax, which mercilessly battered the Lycans until the final buzzer.
In the other games, Carmelo Baja punched in 21 points and 14 rebounds, Ariel Montesclaros tossed in 18 points as Talleco hammered the Teleperformance Lions, 69-57, while Yrold Caracut and Frederick Montelibano combined for 27 points to power the Sykes Pioneers to a 67-51 whacking of the struggling Tesltra-Teletech Titans.
Mark Matidios finished with 11 points for Talleco, which used a 21-13 rally in the second period to change the course of the match in its favor. They then contained Teleperformance on both ends of the court in the final half to come up with a 12-point triumph. Eugenio Paming was the lone bright spot for Teleperformance with 18 points, four rebounds, and three steals.
Earlier, Vernie Jose Diotay and Gerald Bien Galarido conspired for 22 points, seven assists, four rebounds, and three steals for Sykes, which pounded Telstra-Teletech quarter after quarter on the way to a 16-point romp.
Romero Pardillo, Jr. had 18 points and Clifford Amarado banged in 11 points, 11 rebounds and three assists for Telstra-Teletech. Peter Quianzon also had 11 points, but their efforts went for naught as they crashed to their worst ever 0-3 start. (FREEMAN)
