Tabuelan triathlon unfolds tomorrow

CEBU, Philippines - Defending champions Arland Macasieb and Rochelle Tan will try to retain their respective title in the premier division of Tabuelan 111 triathlon tomorrow morning at the Maravilla Beach.

Close to 20 entries in the men’s elite division and other 30 in the women’s class are also set to join the race.

Providing challenge for Macasieb is last year’s Ironman Philippines Filipino elite second placer Franklin Penalosa, multi-titled Noy Jopson, Mendel Lopez, John Philip Duenas, Franz Baguio, Gerrie Calinawan and Joseph Miller.

Ralph Martin Sios-e who is the defending 25-29 class champion will also try his luck in the men's elite division, while former top junior karter-turned actor Matteo Guidicelli will also try his luck in the men’s 18-24 class.

In the distaff side,Senator Pia Cayetano, the returning Lorhiz Echavez, Loveleinill Casidsid and Amale Jopson are expected to give Tan a tough race towards her title retention bid.

Among the age-group categories to be contested are 18-25, 35-39, 30-34, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54 division and relay competition. (FREEMAN)
