Alta Vista recognizes Summer Jungolf Program achievers

CEBU, Philippines - Participants of Alta Vista’s Summer Junior Golf Program gave their parents a first-hand look into how they can play and later in the day displayed the trophies and medals that they reaped during the culminating activity last Saturday.

The father and daughter tandem of Charlie and Julia Gaite bagged the title in the Junior-Senior Team Best Ball Tournament followed by the father and son tandems of Emir and Oman Abutazil and Rodien and Clive Paca on second and third place, respectively.

A total of 16 pairs took part in the 18-hole event.

The top achievers during the program, which started last April, were also recognized during the awards ceremony.

For the individual category, Julia Gaite won the title for the beginners division followed by Clive Paca on second and Anica Alfonso on third.

Matt Ian Bucao topped the intermediate category followed by Ian Chian on second and John Cal on third.

For the advance category, Anton Pastoriza ruled the boys division with Sir Cross Abarintos finishing second and third place went to Ace Acas.

For the girls’ category, the title went to Annika Yeo while runner-up honors went to Axelle Alfonso.

The team manned by Ace Acas, Clive Paca, Samantha Ong, and Anica Alfonso ruled the best-ball tournament.

Second place went to Anton Pastoriza, Jana Gaite, John Cal, and Matt Ian Bucao while third place went to Annika Yeo, Williemae Go, and Aaron Oman Abutazil.

Yeo was also named as the most improved player this year.

Individual awards were also given to the top performers in the three categories.

For the beginners’ class, Clive Paca was best in putting, Julia Gaite best in pitching, and Oman Abutazil best in blasting.

For the intermediate division, Matt Ian Bucao was best in putting, Ian Chian best in pitching, and John Cal best in blasting.

John Hernandez was best in putting for the advance class, Annika Yeo best in pitching, and Anton Pastoriza best in blasting.

The club’s bets to the Philippine Junior Masters Tournament were also presented.  The tournament is set at the Alabang Golf and Country Club.

To represent the club in the event are Ericka Lim, Gabee Crystal, Weiwei Gao, Junia Gabasa, Weiyu Gao, and Weifang Gao.  They earned the slots to the national finals after topping their categories in the Visayas elimination tournament held at Cebu Country Club early this month.
