Straight from London, Satina helps Class '94 stay alive in CECABA

EBV - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The seventh-ranked Las Vegas KTV-M16 Disco '94 got the needed boost from flashy guard Anwar Satina, who flew all the way from London to help them score a precarious 53-50 win over the twice-to-beat Dimsum Frito 2003 in the quarterfinal round of the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association's 12th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Tuesday night at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Satina swiftly made an impact in his first game of the season, churning out a game-high 21 points as Class '94 forged a rubbermatch against the fourth seeded Class 2003. They will face anew in a sudden-death duel at 7:30 tonight, will the winner advancing into the semifinals along with early qualifiers Shell '80s, First Family Appliance Circle '96 and Dewfoam '88.

Satina tossed in 11 markers in the first two quarters, but Class '94 still trailed by two points at halftime, 28-30.

After mellowing down in the third, Satina shot back to life in the final quarter where he netted eight points in a game-closing 15-5 run that propelled Class '94 to a three-point escape.

Satina got huge support from former collegiate basketball star Wellington Yu, who finished with 14 points.

Joey Catipay paced Class 2003 with 17 points, while Jim Paul Yankee cashed in 11 markers in a losing cause.
