Davies Paints into finals of DB Alumni hoop
CEBU, Philippines - Celso Colegado exploded with 26 points as Davies Paints blasted DBTHS '95, 62-45, to advance into the finals without any glitch in the Bosconian Basketball Club Alumni Cup at the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) gym in Brgy, Punta Princesa, this city.
Davies Paints waxed hot right after the opening buzzer to post an early 16-5 lead. They further clobbered DBTHS '95 in the second period, 15-7, to mount an imposing 19-point bulge at halftime, 31-12. DBTHS '95 never recovered from there enroute to a timely summer vacation.
In the other semifinal match, the DB Greywolves lived and fight for another day after gunning down the twice-to-beat Bullvets, 68-53.
The two protagonists will again meet tonight in a sudden-duel for the right to face Davies Paints in the championship scheduled on April 21.
The Greywolves trailed by three points after the first quarter, 15-18, but fought back with savvy in the second period to wrest the driver's seat at the bend, 32-27. They then outscored the Bullvets in the final half, 21-11, to come up with a 15-point romp.
A total of eight teams joined in the annual cagefest among Don Bosco graduates. Among those who joined DBTHS '95 into the exit were the Rams, Batch '98, 2k1 and BICC. (FREEMAN)
