Top Cebuana cyclist shifts to trail running

CEBU, Philippines - From cycling, decorated Cebuana pedal-pusher Marites Bitbit has set her sights on conquering more trails through running.

Bitbit has decided to leave the national cycling squad for good and has relocated to Hong Kong where she is part of the Champion System Adventure Team.

Bitbit clicked with trail running right away, winning several middle-distance races abroad.

Last month, Bitbit saw action in her first 50-kilometer trail run were she dominated the women’s open and placed third overall via the Lantau Trail Run.

Bitbit now gears up for a tougher challenge in The North Face 100, considered as the ultimate 100km trail run challenge set next weekend in Baguio City.  (FREEMAN)
