Exciting finale for Cebu Tri Series

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

Cebu, Philippines - It’s going to be a thrilling finale for the Cebu Loves Triathlon Team Championships on March 28-30 at the Sugar Beach Resort in Bantayan Island with the overall crown still a toss-up between Team Parklane and Fish18.

“It’s going to be an exciting race, a close one. No clear winner yet,” said Sugbutriathlon president Rick Dizon in a press conference yesterday at Fuente Pensionne.

After two legs, Parklane leads the series with 206 points, just 11 points ahead of Fish18.

“Mentally were ready, but physically we’re still getting there,” said Parklane's main man Ralph Arche.

Aside from the psychological advantage, Parklane is also fortunate enough to have a complete cast as compared to Fish18, which has two members on the injured list - Franz Baguio and Eugene Sanchez.

Fish18 though will have Mendel Lopez returning to action after missing the second leg in Dalaguete.

A good number of out-of-towners are also joining the event including from Bohol, Bacolod, Dumaguete and Mindanao.

The presence of former top junior karter-turned actor Matteo Guidicelli will spice up the three-day race.

The overall champion will take home P30,000, while the second and third placers will pocket P20,000 and  P10,000, respectively. The top three finishers in the individual race will get P5,000, P3,000 and P1,000.

Aside from the standard triathlon under the CLTTC, this year’s Bantayan Beach Games will also feature the supertrikids, sprint, super sprint, oceanman, and open water competition. (FREEMAN)
