Olkas nails second straight win in Lou Ornopia hoopla
Cebu, Philippines - Jei Dablo once again spewed fire on the hardcourt, churning out 37 points as Team Olkas zapped Bagtic, 78-76, for its second straight win in the 1st Lou Ornopia Basketball Tournament at the Calambua open court in Calambua, San Remigio north of Cebu.
Dablo, who scored 36 during their 80-75 conquest of Ilihan last week, netted 11 points in the third period to put Olkas on top, 55-52, for good. He then unloaded 16 markers to neutralize Bagtic's offense in the closing minutes of the contest.
In the other game, Ilihan needed an extra five-minute period before getting rid of the Big Boss of San Miguel, 77-72.
The two protagonists fought tooth and nail in the final canto until Monterola calmly sank three pressured-packed free throws in the dying seconds to forge a 65-all deadlock at the end of the regulation period, thus, the overtime.
In the extension, the Ilihan cagers made the most from their extra energy to eventually zap out San Miguel.
The month-long tilt, which is among the highlights of Calambua's annual fiesta in honor of its beloved patron San Vicente Ferrer on April 13, offers close to P30,000 in cash prize to the top performing teams. The champion will pocket 10,000, while the second to fourth placers will take home P7,000, P5,000, and P3,000, respectively.
Supervised by commissioner Gumersindo Jubay, Jr., the games are being officiated by Rabbi Aranduga, Dondon Ferolino and Shonnel Patalinghug.
