Dewfoam ’88 turns back Class 2004 in CECABA hoopla

EBV - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Dewfoam '88 launched a furious offensive storm in the windup to repulse Best World Lifestyle 2004, 64-59, in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association's 12th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Gregorio Aguilar, Jr. and Erwin Yu fired 14 points each, while Richard Ng banged in a dozen markers on top of five rebounds and two assists as Dewfoam '88 improved its record to 7-3.

Class '88 trailed for most of the way and was even down by seven points after three quarters, 44-51, but Aguilar, Yu and Robert Lim put their acts together in a blistering 20-8 rally at the endgame to turn the tables on Class 2004.

Joseph Aljhune Areja had 17 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Kevin Mamac and Eliot Emerson Uy combined for 23 points but their efforts went for naught as Class 2004 slipped to 5-4.

In the other game, Bryan Harry Labus exploded with 33 points, 10 rebounds and two assists as JV Shop n Shop '97 walked away with a 63-58 win over Wild Rice 2007, its sixth in 11 games.

Juan Carlo Espada netted 28 points on top of 11 rebounds, three steals and two assists but his big night was spoiled as Class 2007 slumped to its eighth straight loss in as many starts. (FREEMAN)
