Ting’s 37 powers Class ‘95 past 2003 in CECABA
CEBU, Philippines - Donald Anthony Ting, explosive as ever, charted a season-high 37 points to power New Millennium Hardware '95 to a 75-67 bashing of Dimsun Frito 2003 in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association's 12th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Friday night at the CEC gym.
Ting, who also had five rebounds, was heavily backed up by Dean Dy Teves with 21 points, four rebounds, four blocks and two steals as Class '95 improved its win-loss record to 8-1 while handing Class 2003 its only second loss in seven starts.
Class '95 led by only four at halftime, 28-32, but launched a blistering offensive in the final quarter to turn back Class 2003.
The NM Hardware-backed squad trailed by five after three quarters, 46-51, but Ting churned out 23 in a crippling 29-16 rally that keyed their huge turn around.
Joey Catipay paced Class 2003 with 23 points on top of seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks.
On the other hand, 3R Audio '98 showed great team effort in its 56-48 whacking of First ACY Shipping 2006.
Four players submitted double figures led by Rex Millan with 14 points and two assists for Class '98. Erick Andrew So added 13 markers and eight rebounds, while Elvis Evangelista added 10 points and nine rebounds. Robinson Yap also scored 10 on top of five rebounds and two blocks as Class '98 bettered its win-loss record to 6-5.
Junwynn Dy fired 16 points, six rebounds and four steals, while Raffy Carlo Tan added 13 points and six rebounds, but their good showing went to waste as Class 2006 stumbled to its seventh loss in nine games. (FREEMAN)
