3R Audio Class ‘98, Las Vegas KTV ‘94 survive foes in CECABA double thriller

CEBU, Philippines - 3R Audio '98 and Las Vegas KTV-M16 Disco '94 overcame separate rivals in a suspense-filled twinbill of the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association's 12th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Rex Millan banged in 17 points as Class '98 pulled off a 56-55 squeaker over JV Shop n Shop '97, while Wellington Yu had a monster double-double show of 24 points and 18 rebounds to propel Class '94 to a nerve-wracking 48-47 win over the previously undefeated Dimsum Frito 2003.

Millan, who also had three rebounds, three steals and two assists, was heavily backed up by Erick Andrew So with 15 points and six rebounds. Elvis Evangelista added 11 points and eight rebounds as Class '98 evened its win-loss record to 5-5 while dropping Class '97 to 4-4.

On the other hand, Stanley Gaw and Anthony Chua combined for 19 points and 12 rebounds as Class '94 notched its fifth win in nine starts.

Joep Catipay exploded with 29 points on top of six rebounds and two assists, but his singular offensive outburst went for naught as Class 2003 saw its four-game winning run come to a sudden rep stop.
