Class ’96 nails 7th straight victory in CECABA Cagefest

CEBU, Philippines - The First Family Appliance Circle '96 pounded out a lopsided 50-38 win over PTT 2005 to grab the solo lead with an immaculate 7-0 slate in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association's 12th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Saturday night at the CEC gym.

Dreyfuss Ang scattered 17 points on top of nine assists, eight rebounds and seven steals in an amazing show of hardcourt versatility. Shaun Christoper Wang and Emmanuel Baron conspired for 16 points, 25 rebounds and two assists for Class '96, which never gave Class 2005 some breathing spaced after cruising to a 28-16 lead at halftime.

No player cashed in double figures for Class 2005, which slumped to its fifth straight loss in as many games.

Earlier, witty playmaker Erwin Yu sparkled with 17 points on top of four rebounds, three assists and two steals as Dewfoam '88 spanked Argentina Corned Beef '84/87/90, 46-39, to improve its win-loss record to 4-3.

Gregorio Aguilar, Jr. added 10 points and nine rebounds for Class '88, which used a sizzling 21-9 rally in the windup to turn the tables on Class '84/87/90 at the final buzzer.

Paul Michael Cabellon had 11 points, eight rebounds and two assists for Class '84/87/90, which crashed to its fourth loss against only one win.
