Class ‘96 rolls to fifth straight win in CECABA
CEBU, Philippines - Shaun Christopher Wang had 14 points and 13 rebounds as The First Family Appliance Circle '96 walked away with a close 52-48 win over Las Vegas KTV-M16 Disco '94 to stay undefeated in five starts in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association's 12th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Friday night at the CEC gym.
Rex Alinson also finished with 14 points, but Dreyfuss Ang made the biggest impact despite scoring only eight as he issued a season-best 11 assists and eight steals on top of five rebounds for Class '96, which was in command of the match from start to finish.
Wellington Yu cashed in 16 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, while Stanley Gaw chipped in 15 markers and eight rebounds but their efforts went for naught as Class '94 slipped to 4-2.
Earlier, Mark Eugene Bukiron sparkled with season-highs 36 points and 18 rebounds as Jepoy '99 gamely overhauled 15-point deficit to turn the tables on 3R Audio '98 in overtime, 81-79.
Faced with a huge 40-55 deficit at the end of the third period, Bukiron unloaded 13 points as Class '99 outscored '98 in the final period, 28-13, to tie the score at 68-all, thus, the extension.
Bukiron, who also dished out two assists, churned out seven more points in the extra period that eventually broke the backs of Class '98. (FREEMAN)
Class '99 now holds a 3-1 win-loss record, while Class' 98 fell to 3-3.
