SHS-Ateneo, UV in KO match today for NBTC title

Gabby G. Malagar - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - After being humbled in Game 2, the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles will again shoot for a three-peat in the Cebu leg of the Seaoil National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) Elite League as they take on the University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers in the rubbermatch of their best-of-three finals today at the USC-Main gym.

Game time is set at 5 pm.

Routed in the series the opener, 50-67, it seems that the Lancers have found the right chemistry in dealing the Magis Eagles their first loss in years via a 75-71 escape in Game 2 to forge a knockout match.

This will be the eighth time that the Magis Eagles and the Baby Lancers clash in a major tournament  including that of last year's CESAFI season where SHS-Ateneo swept UV in their best-of-five title showdown.

As usual, Andres Paul Desiderio will be the main offensive weapon for the Baby Lancers, while the Magis Eagles will heavily rely on reigning CESAFI MVP Henric Dawn Ochea along with the likes of Arc Gabriel Araw-araw, Jair Igna and Rendell Senening.
