GM Sevillano leads final 16 cast in Deep Blue chessfest

CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano GM Enrico Sevillano banners the elite cast who advanced into the final 16 knockout stage of the 1st Cebu Deep Blue Christmas Chess Open at the Deep Blue 'D Woodpusher’s Club at the second level of SM City-Cebu.

Sevillano outclassed Giovanni Babano to bolster his hunt for the P15,000 champion's purse that goes along with a limited edition Zoo York wrist watch worth P25,000 courtesy of Deep Blue 'D Woodpusher's Club owners Molit and Maricris Hortelano.          Sevillano is joined into the next phase of the tournament by NM Merben Roque, Romel Ganzon, Cyril Ortega, his nephew Rhenzi Kyle Sevillano, Eden Diano, Bonn Rainauld Tibod, Bryll John Arellano, Edcel Montoya, Richard Natividad, Alfer Joseph Fernandez, Allan Salientes, Anthony Makinano, Yves Christian Fiel, Rogelio Enriquez, Jr., and Michael Joseph Pagaran.

Ehti Dominguito, Kitting Moro, Kobe Roleda, Nestor Encallado and Atty. Tomas Riveral of OPASCOR, the three-day tilt offers a total of P43,800 in cash prizes to the top performers.

The first runner-up will pocket P8,000, the losing semifinalists will get P3,000 each, while the quarterfinalists will receive P1, 500 each.

Those who will advance to the top 16 are assured of P500, while those who will make the final 32 cut will get P300. (FREEMAN)
