Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Defending women’s champion Mandaue City joined Catmon and Minglanilla in group B’s front seat after collecting its third win in as many games in the quarterfinal round of the 2012 Governor Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball (GUV) Cup at the Cebu International Convention Center.

Like its first two assignments, Mandaue got its third win with relative ease against Tabuelan, 25-8,25-15.

In group A, last year’s runner-up Talisay City stretched its unbeaten streak to four after beating Sta. Fe, 25-15, 25-17.

Liloan trails Talisay City with a clean 3-0 slate followed by Toledo with a 3-1 win-loss mark and Sta. Fe with an even 2-2 record.

Meanwhile, the games scheduled this afternoon and tomorrow will be played at the Mandaue City Central School due to the unavailability of the CICC as well as the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.- (FREEMAN)
