All set for Ateneo’s ‘One Big 5’ Blue Night and Golfest on Dec. 5

CEBU, Philippines -  In celebration of Ateneo's historic five-peat in the UAAP, the Ateneo Alumni Association of Cebu, Inc. in partnership with the Cebu Landmasters and Skygo International Motorcycles will hold the 'One Big 5' Blue Night and Golf Tournament on December 5 at the Cebu Country Club.

Aside from fostering fellowship and renewing friendship among Ateneo alumni based in Cebu and other areas in the Vis-Min region, AAACI president Joe Soberano said the charity event is also aimed at paying tribute to the Ateneo Blue Eagles for spectacularly winning five straight championship in the country's most prestigious collegiate basketball league.

Soberano was joined by his son and Cebu Landmasters executive Franco Soberano, Tony del Prado and Toby Florendo.

“We want to celebrate this milestone of Ateneo for accomplishing a rare 'five-feat' in the UAAP that is probably hard to match by other schools in the coming years,” said Soberano in a press conference yesterday at the Acacia room of CCC.

The 'One Big 5' twin affair is for the benefit of the Ateneo dorm scholars.

By his conservative estimate, Soberano said they are expecting 50 to 100 entries in the golf tournament. Tee off time is at 8 am.

The awarding ceremony will be held in conjunction with the 'Blue Night' at 6:30 pm on the same day at The Loft Resto Bar in Cebu IT Park.

Soberano said no less than Ateneo President Fr. Jett Villarin, SJ will be coming over to grace the affair. They also plan to bring some members of the Ateneo champion team to add glitz and glamour to the momentous evening.

“I hope our Atenean brothers and sisters will come and support this event for a worthy cause,” said Soberano, a highly esteemed Cebuano businessman and sportsman.

Tickets for the Blue Night is pegged at P500. Those who will be joining the golf tilt will be assessed with P1,500.

Out of that minimal fee, the participants are entitled to a gourmet dinner, free drinks, live music, exciting giveaways, raffle prizes, and some fellowship activities that include trivia and battle of the decades.
