Moalboal sweeps cluster 3 titles in GUV Cup
CEBU, Philippines - Hosting the cluster 3 action of the 8th Governor Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball (GUV) Cup proved rewarding for Moalboal as it bagged all titles available in the two-day elimination round at its turf.
Moalboal snatched the women's division crown via a clean 4-0 sweep translated intro 12 points. It prevailed over Alegria, 27-25, 26-24 before pulling off another hard-earned 25-20, 27-25 victory over Badian.
Moalboal sustained its momentum with a 25-13, 26-24 win over Dumanjug and a 24-14, 25-15 thrashing of Ronda.
In the men’s division, Moalboal easily dismantled its rivals to take home the champion's trophy. The host blanked Alegria, 25-0, 25-0 and then cruised to a 25-17, 26-24 triumph over Ronda. Dumanjug was its third victim via a 25-21, 25-16 decision.
It was a resounding treble for Moalboal as it also dominated the kiddies division with a 25-13, 25-23 whacking of Alegria.
The province-wide developmental tournament organized by the Cebu Volleyball Association (CEVA) will take a one-week break in observance of the All Saints Day and All Souls Day.
Action resumes on November 10 with the staging of the cluster 5 battle in Bantayan Island. (FREEMAN)
