SHS-Ateneo mangles USJ-R in CESAFI football

CEBU, Philippines - The Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu bounced back from its opening day loss in style, coming up with a 12-0 shutout of the University of San Jose-Recoletos in high school division of the 12th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) football event yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Karlo Miguel Villamor broke the ice as SHS-Ateneo cruised to a commanding 7-0 advantage after the first 45 minutes of play. Villamor went on to finish his rampage with three goals.

Andrew Joseph Pelicano also found the back of the net thrice. Thomas Cedric Retuya added two more goals to spearhead SHS-Ateneo's relentless offensive.

SHS-Ateneo, which bowed to the University of Southern Philippines Foundation, 1-2, two weekends ago, now sports an even 1-1 slate, while USJ-R dropped to 1-2.

USPF is at the top of the standings with an immaculate 2-0 record followed by Don Bosco at 1-0. (FREEMAN)
